Further to our previous communications, the school has now transitioned from ePortal, our old information management system, to Compass.
Thank you to those who have already downloaded the Compass App and logged into their Compass account. If you have not done so already, please ensure you have done this before Monday, 4th November 2024.
From that date, the following changes will be implemented:
Attendance Notes
- From Monday 4th November, Blue Absence Notes and Yellow Early Excuse Notes in the Dialann will not longer be accepted. Where your child is absent from school, an Attendance Note must be added on Compass. Where you wish your child to leave school early, you must add an Attendance Note on Compass.
- Please note that, where you wish your child to leave school early, an Attendance Note must be added to Compass that morning.

Communication
- From Monday 4th November, the school will no longer issue SMS text messages, except to issue Way2Pay payment links or in cases of emergency.
- All communications will be via email and/or push notification through the Compass app.
To ensure you are able to:
- Monitor information about your child in school
- Monitor your child’s attendance in school
- Continue to receive communications from the school
- Notify the school of reasons for school absences
- Notify the school if your child needs to leave school early
- Grant permission for your child to take part in school trips, activities and events
- Access school reports
You need to take the following action now:
- Download the Compass School Manager app to your phone using the links below or search for Compass School Manager in the Google Play Store (if you have an Android phone) or the App Store (if you have an iPhone).
- Open the app.
- NB: In order to ensure you continue to receive communications from the school, you must select the option to receive push notifications when opening the Compass app for the first time.
- Login using the username and password you received from the school by email (please see FAQ below if you have not received an email from the school with Compass login details).
- For assistance in using the Compass app, when logged into the app select ‘More’ and scroll down to the Help icon.

Attendance
Compass will allow you to monitor your child’s attendance in school and allow you to let the school know when your child is absent from school or needs to leave early.
From Monday 4th Novemeber, Compass will replace the blue absence notes and yellow early excuse notes in the Dialann.
To advise the school if your child is absent from school or needs to leave early, in the Compass app:
- Select the relevant child
- Select ‘Attendance Note’
- Enter the details as necessary
- Tap save
Where your child needs to leave school early, please ensure an Attendance Note has been added that morning to avoid delays when your child is signing out.
Communication
From Monday 4th November, we will transition from SMS text messages to using Compass as our exclusive means of communicating general school information to parents.
This means you will receive information from the school through push notifications from the Compass app on your phone or by email.
For this reason, to ensure you continue to receive important communications from the school, when installing the Compass app you must select the option to allow push notifications.
FAQ
– I didn’t receive an email with Compass login details.
- Firstly, check your email account’s junk folder.
- Open the Compass app and select Ratoath College. Click the blue text that says ‘Can’t access your account?’ and then ‘I don’t know my username’. Enter your email address and click continue.
- If you still do not receive an email from the school with Compass login details, please use the form below to let us know.
– I have more than one child enrolled in the school, but when I login to Compass, the details for one or more of my children does not appear.
