Pastoral Care

At Ratoath College the student is at the centre of our education process. In seeking to promote the holistic development of our students we endeavour to meet the needs of each individual student. Our Pastoral Care programme deals with a wide variety of issues such as:  transfer from primary to secondary level school, behaviour, tension and stress around examinations, bullying, peer influence, relationships, community, personal development, bereavement and separation.

Our core Pastoral Care Team consists of the Principal, the Deputy Principals, our SEN Coordinator, our Guidance Counsellors and our Chaplain.

This team is supported by all staff particularly Moltóirí and Caomhnóirí. This system has had an extremely positive impact on the development of the school and assisting the students in settling into the school.

Individual Student Support

Students may also be referred to the School Guidance Counsellors or Chaplain by school staff for Individual Student Support where the need arises. Students can be referred by Teachers, Caomhnóirí, Moltóir, and Principal/Deputy Principals through our internal referral system. Parents can also request additional personal support for their child by contacting the Core Pastoral Care Team directly through the school. These meetings will be conducted by professionally qualified personnel in line with the professional standards as outlined by the National Centre for Guidance in Education (NCGE). Confidentially and record keeping regulations will also be applied and respected.
