State Exams

State Exams 2026

Below, you will find important information for parents/guardians of our 3rd Year and 6th Year students ahead of the State Exams for 2026, which begin on Wednesday, 3rd June.

You will also find our state exams procedures below. These procedures outline key information for students in advance of the exams, including expectations for attendance, punctuality, conduct, permitted materials, device use, exam-day arrangements, and other important guidelines.

We would ask that you please take the time to read through these procedures carefully with your son/daughter. It is very important that all students are familiar with the arrangements before the examinations begin, as this will help ensure that the exam period runs as smoothly and calmly as possible for everyone involved.

Students should pay particular attention to the following:

  • Arriving on time for each examination;
  • Bringing the correct equipment and materials;
  • Following all instructions from exam supervisors;
  • Ensuring that mobile phones, smart watches and other unauthorised devices are not brought into the examination centre and are left outside, turned off;
  • Behaving appropriately in and around the examination area;
  • Knowing their examination timetable (available below) and checking it carefully in advance.

We appreciate that this can be a stressful time for students and families, and our aim is to support students in feeling prepared, organised and confident as they begin their exams.

RACE - individual or shared separate centres

Students who have been granted shared or individual separate centres through RACE must meet in the GP Area on Tuesday 2nd June at 10.00.

Students will briefly meet with their exam supervisor and will have an opportunity to familiarise themselves with their examination room and the procedures for Wednesday and the following exams.

First Day of the Exams

The exams begin on Wednesday, 3rd June. Students must be in attendance at their exam centre at 09.00 on the morning of the first exam. This is a State Examinations Commission requirement.

As is customary, breakfast will be served for all Third and Sixth Year students from 08.30 on that morning. In our experience, the traditional exams breakfast can be helpful in calming last minute nerves and giving students an opportunity to support each other before the exams begin.

We wish all of our 3rd Year and 6th Year students the very best of luck in their upcoming State Examinations.

Kind regards,

Mr Toner & Mr O’Dwyer
