We hope this letter finds you safe and well.
We are delighted to offer the Italian Exchange Programme for this school year for pupils of Transition Year and Fifth Year. The exchange programme is with a High School – Liceo Ulivi, with whom we have partnered for many years now – in the fantastic city of Parma in the Emilia-Romagna region of Northern Italy.
Our students will be going to Italy in March for one week from Wednesday 12th March to Wednesday 19th March 2025 with the Italian Exchange partners planning to come to Ireland for seven nights between the dates of 20th November and 27th of November 2024. The Italian students will finalise their dates soon, but it will be for one week.
This is a fantastic opportunity for students of Italian to develop their Italian language, experience the culture of Italy and to make connections with students from a different background to their own.
We are eager to book our flights for the trip to Parma as soon as possible.
If your child would like to take part in the exchange, please let us know by filling in the form using the button below before Thursday 19th September at 12.00.
If you wish your child to take part, you will be required to pay a deposit of around €250 to our travel partners, GTI, to secure their place in the next couple of weeks.
Please note that the number of places available on the Exchange are limited. Should there be more students who wish to take part than available places, places will be allocated by lottery.
Along with the deposit, payable to GTI, a signed copy of the student contract for the exchange (available from Ms.Fagherazzi) must be returned to Ms. Fagherazzi in room Z6.
The programme in the past has cost approximately €650, this will include bus trips to and from the airport, flights, insurance, food and several day trips and excursions in Italy as well as all the coach trips in Italy. The Italian host family will provide lunch and dinner for your child and several trips to authentic restaurants are also included in the price of the trip. Included in the price your child will also accompany their Italian partner on all trips when they come to stay in Ireland.
Once your child’s place on the exchange has been confirmed we will be in touch with you with the next steps. We will match your son/daughter with a suitable Italian student and they will stay with their family during the week they are in Parma. You and your family will also host the student when they come to visit Ireland in November so please do ensure you have a suitable place for them to sleep. Ideally students will have their own room but they can also share a room if you are short on space.
Please contact me on [email protected] if you have any questions at all and we look forward to hearing from you soon.
Yours faithfully,
Keela Fagherazzi
Exchange Coordinator
