Anti -Bullying Policy at Ratoath College

Dear parent(s)/guardian(s),

We hope this letter finds you well.

We have been made aware of incidents involving First Year students which have contributed to a negative atmosphere and one of unkindness within the year group at the moment. We have discussed the seriousness of this with all First Year students during an assembly on, Wednesday 30th January, and outlined the essential role they each play in making sure that every students’ experiences and interactions with each other are positive, supportive and kind.

Mutual respect is one of the key values that underpin our school, and we would ask that you assist us in delivering this message to your child by taking the following actions before Wednesday 7th February.

  • Discuss with your child the anti-bullying assembly and the activity that all First Year students took part in during Tutorial on Wednesday 30th January.
  • Read with your son/daughter the school’s Anti-Bullying Policy. This is also available in your child’s Dialann.
  • Watch this YouTube video on Anti-Bullying.
  • Discuss with your child the key messages of the policy and the video.
  • Acknowledge that you have done the above by noting it in their Dialann.

Webwise has produced a range of guides for parents that you may also find useful in helping to discuss these issues with your child.

We wish to thank you most sincerely for your assistance with this very important matter. We appreciate your full support in working to ensure that every child, both in and out of school, has the opportunity to grow and learn in an environment that is positive, supportive and kind.

Please do not hesitate to contact us should you wish to discuss the matter further.

Yours sincerely,

Aisling O’Toole, Moltóir

Donna Kelly, Deputy Principal
